Go Large

Exhibitions & celebrations.

Sometimes big just isn’t big enough. Our large format printing starts at 20×16″ and go all the way up to 60″ across the shortest side. This means you could have a print at 60″ tall by 200″ wide, now that’s big!

Large format / Posters can be printed onto a variety of different papers. If your poster is required for a short term, lighter weight paper can be used, saving you money. For those applications that require a hardier construction, prints can be mounted onto Dibond, acrylic and other types of substrates. Prints can also be laminated to protect them from scuff damage.

C-Type Prints

These prints are what most of us would consider proper ‘photographs’. C-type print refers to the chemical process where light sensitive paper is exposed and then processed through developing chemistry. Our large format C-Type printer essentially prints giant photographs which are then developed through a giant processor.

The end result is, you guessed it, giant sized photographs. You have a choice of Gloss or Matte paper finish.

Giclée Prints

Giclée is the professional (fancy) term for inkjet prints. Our wide format inkjet printer is bigger than our C-Type printer allowing us to print larger sizes, honest. Most Giclée orders we receive are for fine art papers, but we can also print onto a Pearl paper which looks very similar to a C-Type (regular photograph) print. Great if you want a print that looks like a normal photo, but is too big to be printed on our C-Type printer.

Looking to have some posters printed? Don’t forget to check out our Mount & Prep tab (above) for details on how to set up your image files.

Bigger is Better

Durst Epsilon 30

durtsmicroWe use the Durst Epsilon 30 digital printer to produce C-Type prints up to 30 inches across the shortest side (for example 30 inch x 60 inch prints).  The Epsilon can expose a single continues image up to 30m/100ft in length. Digital prints from the Durst are beautifully subtle in tone and density. Gradients and the slightest variance in colours and contrast are faithfully reproduced, making digital prints from the Durst Epsilon ideal for portraiture and colour critical work.

Go Large(er)

With giclee output, maximum size poster print increase again. Our industry standard Epson 11880 inkjet printer supports a maximum width of 60 inches across the shortest side. It uses Fujifilm high resolution coated paper for posters that will be installed for a short duration (such as a wedding, celebration or 1-3 day event). Alternatively, Fujifilm Pearl 290 is used to produce a longer lasting posters.

What Goes Up

Posters that can go the distance.

If you are producing work for gallery exhibition or longer term durations, we can mount your prints onto professional substrates such as Dibond and acrylic. Optional ‘split batten’ fixings can also be applied to ensure secure hanging. If you prints will be located in high traffic areas, protection with a gloss or lustre laminate is also available.

Scaled To Fit

It is important that you correctly size your images so they are ready to print. Please ensure:

  • Your images are cropped / sized at your desired output dimension.
  • C-type poster prints must have a resolution of 254dpi.
  • For C-type prints, remember to embed our Gloss or Matte colour profile.

For a more detailed explanation on cropping your images, see the School of CC.
